Roger Ureña Hidalgo, a third-generation coffee producer, established the Santa Teresa 2000 micromill eight years ago to process coffee cherries on-site. Like many renowned farms in Costa Rica, Santa Teresa participates in a carbon-neutral program to reduce its carbon footprint and in the Blue Flag program to protect the coastal environment.
Since first participating in the Costa Rica Cup of Excellence, Santa Teresa has consistently ranked within the top ten. This year, the farm achieved first place in the Washed category with a score of 92.04. Among its various varieties, this high-altitude Geisha stands out for its remarkable complexity: bright notes of jasmine, lemon candy, and ripe red apple; a silky, buttery texture; and a long, sweet finish reminiscent of caramel syrup.
